The vaccines were destined for Chinese school children. Singapore based supply chain focused blockchain technology firm VeChain has offered its cutting edge drug tracking solution to avoid such incidents in the future. In its effort to create blockchain solutions for other sectors, VeChain has partnered with NTT Docomo, the largest telecom company in Japan.
VeChain, in its official medium post, has stated that it is one among the first batch of partners selected by NTT Docomo for the “5G Open Partner Program.” NTT Docomo aims to establish industrial use of 5G technology by 2020. To achieve this objective, the Japanese company is creating a partnership network in order to implement the technology in different regions.
VeChain hopes to use NTT Docomo’s 5G protocol and provide next-generation technology services. In its press release VeChain said
“Our goal is to enhance and enrich our current data services capacity within traceability, supply chain management, and smartphones for our users. with our ongoing effort to bring traceability use cases in Japan into our ecosystem, the 5G program will bring additional value to VeChain’s presence in the region”.
The partnership allows VeChain to enter into a joint collaboration with different industries belonging to a range of sectors. It has also increased the chances of joint venture in new projects.
VeChain also hinted that it is in close talks with a leading Japanese company. The company opined that its VeChainThor Blockchain is strengthening further due to the integration with NTT Docomo’s 5G technology.
About NTT Docomo
Founded in 1991, NTT Docomo is the largest telecommunication company in Japan. As of March 2018, Docomo has a market share of 45.3% in Japan. The company has also expanded into smart life business, which involves distribution of digital content and utility payment through mobile. Docomo now plans to realize industrial usage of 5G in 2020, the year in which Olympics will take place in Tokyo. The term industrial usage also includes cloud and IoT technology. Docomo wishes to create new ways of watching sports games using VR/AR technology, smart lifestyle and automatic drive, among others.
Docomo 5G Open Partner Program
Docomo launched 5G Open Partner Program in February 2018, with an aim to realize industrial usage of 5G in 2020. Under this program, NTT Docomo provides the requisite environment for 5G technology verification, while opening the channels of communication between the partners.
