Furthermore, António Guterres elaborated the need to adopt blockchain technology:
“For the United Nations to deliver better on our mandate in the digital age, we need to embrace technologies like blockchain that can help accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.”
Notably, Guterres expressed similar positive opinion about blockchain technology in July 2018. Additionally, at that time, he established a “High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation,” which blatantly placed blockchain technology on the plan.
In September 2018, he also explained how confidence in national organizations, amidst states and in a regulation based world order has deteriorated and how tech, specifically blockchain, can assist negate the problem. However, Guterres did not speak high of cryptos.

As Guterres developed the digital cooperation program, blockchain utilization by the UN has seen explosive growth. It can be remembered that UN has launched a blockchain tool intended to stop the misuse of migrant workers in Hong Kong with a blockchain financial services firm earlier in December.
As per July news, the UN is also developing blockchain solutions for renewable urban building in Afghanistan. Finally, in April the president of the UN specialized organization for air transportation has stated that blockchain tech could provide hug benefits across air traffic systems across the world.
