The platform provided by Securitize enables token issuers to remain compliant in accordance to protocol and improve capital markets via the creation of a digital securities environment, and making it simple to own, handle and transact.
These securities can symbolize a range of asset classes such as fund stakes, equity, real-estate and fixed income.
As per Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo, the recent investment from Sony Financial Ventures puts in “another marquee name to a growing list of companies who are investing in digital securities as the future of global capital markets.”
The aforesaid list also consists of big financial institutions such as MUFG Innovation Partners, Nomura Holdings, and Santander InnoVentures.
Other early investors in the recent fund raising round include Coinbase Ventures, Blockchain Capital and Ripple Xpring.
In summer of 2019, Securitize got registered with the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) to function as a transfer broker.
The company then asserted to be the first such broker using an operating blockchain covenant. During the period, Domingo stated that official SEC registration would offer solace to likely investors.
