Cointrust.com readers should take note that the version of Metamask, which allows users to access Ethereum blockchain from browser, listed on Google Chrome app store is not the original but a phishing version uploaded by hacker. It is designed to strip users off their Ether holdings. Those who had already installed Metamask will have no issues, but avoid downloading the new version.
Google recently did away with the official Metamask app for unknown reasons and some hacker has used this opportunity to upload a phishing version on the Chrome store, without being detected by Google’s security staff. In case, there is a need to use Metamask, then it would be better to use Firefox Metamask extension as of now.
