Waves, an open source blockchain platform, and The Abyss, a blockchain powered game distribution platform, are jointly introducing a digital goods and in-game items market place built using blockchain technology.
The Abyss disclosed its partnership with the Waves Platform, intended at the development of a blockchain based marketplace of tradable goods and in-game items. The marketplace will permit users to buy items with Abyss Tokens and sell them to other users.
The integration of Abyss Tokens with Waves blockchain will permi game builders to incorporate Abyss Token functions directly in to their Waves-based games.
Sasha Ivanov, founder and CEO of Waves Platform, explained how blockchain will benefit gaming sector:
“We recognize the huge potential of the $100+ billion gaming sector as a major use case for blockchain which perfectly fits with current gameplay mechanics and trading of goods. We strongly believe that the gaming industry will be an enthusiastic adopter of blockchain, and partnership with The Abyss will drive its widespread use.”
Recently, The Abyss unveiled collaboration with Epic Games to permit coders on the platform access to the Unreal Developers Network. At that time, regarding the partnership, The Abyss spokesperson opined as follows:
“The program is aimed at attracting more gaming studios and titles to The Abyss platform, as well as supporting Unreal Engine developers in cryptocurrency adoption. More specifically, they will be able to accept ABYSS tokens both for game and in-game purchases in legal and easy-to-use way.”
In last week of June, Waves upgraded its blockchain for facilitating decentralized apps on its platform.
