Chiliz, which is an Ethereum blockchain based platform aiding sports tokenization, has joined hands with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) to permit fans to utilize CHZ tokens for various services.
As per an announcement made today by Chiliz (CHZ), the platform intends to give access to their blockchain powered app Socios to UFC fans.
With the use of Chiliz’ native crypto i.e. CHZ coin, fans will be able to redeem their tokens for tickets to UFC fights, other services and associated rewards.
Chiliz CEO Alex Dreyfus stated that the collaboration was not about the purchase of tickets, but offering a voice to fans:
“The idea is that (before the pandemic) 99.9% of sports fans, like YOU, are not in the stadium and yet you are a fan of few teams. So we offer teams the ability to engage and monetise their global fan base by creating Fan Tokens and attaching rights, experiences, gamification around these Fan Tokens.”
The CEO revealed that the Socios app has been downloaded by more than 200,000 people so far, in order to use the CHZ token. He anticipates the total downloads to increase considerable in the months ahead.
“…we are preparing much bigger marketing campaigns in the next few months to achieve our first million users. Moreover, our [publicly stated] goal [of] “being the biggest consumer-facing blockchain-based platform” in 2020 (excluding wallets & exchanges).”
Those who are following Socios on Twitter expressed their optimism about the partnership, while saying that the deal would bring several “hundreds of millions” of new fans.
