As per The Emirates News Agency, the blockchain powered platform intends to enhance the capability of MoHAP and smart health facilities offered by other health departments.
The platform assists its users to easily find out health services and approved medical and technical staff, and also enquire about supply chains related to medicines.
As per Dr.Lubna Al Shaali, the Director of the Public Health Policy Department, the latest data repository platform based on blockchain technology will assist in safeguarding a tamper proof, decentralized and encrypted database with very high level safety.
The platform will also feature some artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, in line with the Ministry’s intention to incorporate AI into health facilities.
Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Public Health Policy and Licenses, explained the benefits of AI based ventures:
“The AI-based projects will play a key role in enhancing the capabilities of health care services and providing smart medical solutions, in accordance with the UAE Centennial 2071, and its artificial intelligence strategy.”
Notably, more than 80% of government organizations in the UAE have begun using blockchain. In the past few months, the Department of Economic Development in Dubai has shifted to a blockchain powered single point business enrollment platform to enhance the simplicity of conducting business in Dubai and facilitate the issuers of license to handle both corporate registries and trade licenses.
Healthcare industry can enormously gain from the safe, open, decentralized and efficient data handling capacity of blockchain technology. Still, there are numerous challenges to be overcome in the months to come, including blockchain technology’s ability to adjust to real life applications in terms of privacy, regulation, business, service provider and patient relationships which are exclusive to healthcare sector.
