Medical cannabis firms are in a big hurry to join the world’s first blockchain based platform for tracing product from seed-to-sale, as per a report from ProActive Investors on January 3.
The StrainSecure software, created by TruTrace, facilitates testing, DNA based assessment and product assurances for clients and patients.
The unalterable, cryptographically safe platform facilitates cannabis producers to improve trust among clients in a sector popular for questionable supply chains.
“By focusing on granular genetic, chemical and contaminant data, as well as motion and movement information and then merging that into a blockchain we are able to provide real-time data on each product being purchased.”
Top players in the medical cannabis sector like WeedMD and Harvest One Cannabis in recent times participated in a trial venture for the platform. As a portion of the trial, WeedMD carried out validation of 40 strains.
Notably, in Uruguay, Aeternity is rolling out a blockchain powered tracing platform for cannabis. Nevertheless, the StrainSecure platform has taken a step forward in trial and implementation of DNA based assessment.
