Square Enix Chooses Polygon Blockchain to Launch its First Web3 Game

Square Enix, a Japanese video game producer, announced on Wednesday that it will debut its initial Web3 game, Symbiogenesis, on the Polygon blockchain, citing, among many other benefits, the network’s ecologic viability.

“The carbon-neutral state of the Polygon blockchain system also enables Square Enix to guarantee that Symbiogenesis is extremely viable,” the company stated in an emailed media statement.
Supporters of the Square Enix brand opposed the firm’s blockchain efforts for a variety of reasons, including the technology’s possible environmental impact.

The forthcoming Symbiogenesis is described by Square Enix as an engaging digital rare art experience in which players can utilize and exchange non-fungible tokens (NFT) as in-game goods. It is anticipated to be ready in early 2023. According to the business, Polygon provided good transaction rates, cheap gas costs, and general gaming kindness.

As per Square Enix’s website as of March 31, 2022, the company’s net revenue totaled 365.2 billion Japanese yen (US$2.8 billion). Square Enix is known for producing popular titles including Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated in October 2017 that Japan would support a digital economic change by increasing expenditures in NFTs and the metaverse. Rest of the big Japanese game developers, including Sega and Konami, have also revealed cryptocurrency initiatives.
