Splinterlands is a trading card game that enables players to trade from anywhere and at any time and earn money for every victory. Its participants fight for a limited number of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), the game’s cryptocurrency token. They will also get “provably rare and valuable NFTs through daily tasks and bi-weekly season prizes.”
Splinterlands stated in its press statement announcing the celebration that the user figures reflect a 250% increase in daily users over the previous month, when it had approximately 90,000 gamers. This figure has also increased by a factor of ten in the last two months.
The expansion comes against the back drop of rising popularity of NFT-based games. We recently announced that Immutable has received $60 million for an Ethereum-based NFT gaming platform. Sky Mavis just surpassed the $2 billion milestone in sales for its NFT game Axie Infinity, according to DappRadar statistics.
Splinterlands, on the other hand, is doing things differently to gain an advantage over its competitors. For one thing, it adds genuine value, which leads to a far greater retention rate than other platforms. This has also resulted in a devoted fan base willing to shell out large bucks for in-game goods.
