The Doge Protocol, which refers to a blockchain that is inherently resistant to quantum computer based attacks, uses PoS (Proof- of-Stake) consensus algorithm. Notably, the Doge Protocol is community led initiative. Also, the testnet of Doge Protocol, dubbed “T0”, utilizes Falcon crypto technique for Digital Signatures. Furthermore, key encapsulation is completed via NTRU HRSS.
Through the use of NTRU HRSS crypto technique and Falcon, Doge Protocol has been transformed into a blockchain which can safeguard both accounts and inter-node interaction utilizing cryptography that is resistant to quantum threats. Interestingly, the testnet makes use of Clique consensus. In the future, the testnet will start using PoS consensus mechanism.
Through the use of forward error correction (FEC) technique, the testnet amends the UDP discovery covenant to accept bigger packet sizes. Even an update of the transport layer has been done through the use of ECIES to NTRU HRSS to achieve key encapsulation. Additionally, the incorporation of a distinct handshake process to meet the TLS criteria has been carried out in accordance with RFC 8446. As detailed in RFC 5869, the generation of the ultimate application encryption keys is done utilizing HMAC HKDF as explained in RFC 5869.
Commenting on the initiative, a spokesperson of the Doge Protocol community said “We are pleased to inform you that we have recently published our Testnet, which will allow us to do preliminary testing prior to the roll out of our official Mainnet. It includes Quantum Resistant Cryptography to offer the highest level of protection against quantum computing attacks. We also published the Quantum Resistant blockchain node software as portion of the Testnet rollout. The node will assist in connecting to the blockchain, sending/receiving transactions, and checking account balances.”
Ahead of the roll out of the final mainnet, Doge Protocol will unveil additional testnest. With respect to mainnet, the blockchain system will also multi-fork Bitcoin, Ethereum and Doge, the three notable blockchains, to safeguard them from threat of attacks initiated through quantum computer.
“Because we are a community-led platform, all manuals and programming will be aided by community, and all contributions will be made through Github. Six steps will be used to upload the Testnet code to Github. Because the code is built on Ethereum and enhanced with quantum defiance and several more characteristics, the blockchain will also be interoperable with EVM.”
The spokesperson of the Doge Protocol further stressed that the project is not administered by any centralized organization or individual. Being an open and decentralized project, anybody can contribute to the initiative.
