Parity Introduces Substrate, a Blockchain Building Tool Suite

Parity, a UK-based blockchain infrastructure provider, has introduced a beta version of Substrate, its proprietary blockchain creation tool. The release states that Substrate is aimed to provide “maximum technical freedom” while blockchains are being developed.

It facilitates programming in multiple languages and users can build their own consensus protocol. Furthermore, it is compatible with mainly active consensus algorithms.

In following versions, Parity will also include additional consensus protocols, making them hot-swapable and permitting clients to swap between various mechanisms exclusive of a hard fork.

The beta version of Substrate is authorized under the GNU General Public License, but the safe storage of the system will be transferred to an Apache 2.0 license to provide utmost developer independence. Parity will also offer professional help to organizations in view of the development of apps with a substratum.

The founder of Parity, Gavin Wood, who co-founded Ethereum, says that Substrate has utilized all the experience gained from building the Ethereum ecosystem and Polkadot — a protocol that permits clients to connect several types of blockchains. At the Web3 Summit conducted in Berlin two months back, Wood introduced Substrate. He stated that the system “will be a turning point” in the shift to a “multi-chain world.”
