Pace Gallery, a New York-based contemporary art gallery, has announced a new collaborative development with Artblocks. The new project, dubbed “QWERTY” and launching on 10 October 2022, is an NFT release.
Not only is this sculpture the result of their cooperation, but it is also Tara Donovan’s first-ever NFT project. This collection will consist of 500 generative pieces and will have a close relationship to the artist’s screen drawings.
The concept behind this collection is how type may be used to construct patterns. The concept employs 26 letters and 30 symbols, each with a distinct degree of legibility.
A description of the collection states, “Each NFT in this series exhibits rhythmic, mesmeric combinations of a single, recurring letter or symbol rendered on computer keyboards.”
The first 56 individuals to mint one of these NFTs will get an archival pigment print of their NFT from the artist and Pace Verso. However, the NFTs will be physically shown at Frieze London 2022 from October 12 to 16, 2022.
The NFTs will be sold only on the website of Artblocks, and a percentage of the revenues will be given to charity.
