Opera’s cryptocurrency browser project aims to make it simpler for cryptocurrency experts and relative newcomers to explore decentralized applications (dApps), blockchain game modes, and metaverse portals spanning platforms and gadgets.
Opera’s latest beta offering prioritizes Web3 in the surfing environment. The browser has a content and statistics aggregator branded ‘Crypto Corner’ — a specialized location for crypto headlines, cryptocurrency asset values, and gas fees, as well as cryptocurrency conferences, airdrops, and perhaps even podcasts.
“The Opera Crypto Browser Project is more than merely about browsing standard webpages through a generic solution,” Opera stated in its launch.
“It is purpose-built to interact with a range of decentralized applications, or dApps, and to give more functionality than a standard browser with a simple web wallet add-on.”
Browsers have been a significant method for individuals to get into crypto and web3 by enabling access to dApps through wallet extensions. MetaMask is one of the most popular wallets, since it enables direct access to Ethereum blockchain-based decentralized applications (dApps) from a variety of browsers.
By 2021, MetaMask had surpassed 10 million monthly active users (MAUs) and had established itself as the world’s top noncustodial wallet. However, this is not Opera’s first effort at creating a service geared at cryptocurrency consumers.
Opera started its cryptocurrency adventure in 2018 with the addition of an integrated wallet; since that day, the business has proceeded to incorporate support for further Web3 technologies. The wallet enables users to engage with the Ethereum platform and decentralized applications (dApps).
Opera has now introduced connections with Bitcoin, the decentralized domain name provider ‘Unstoppable Domains,’ and the crypto platforms Celo and Nevros. Additionally, the business announced collaborations with Layer-2 protocols Near, Polygon, and Solana.
Opera is particularly well-known for its privacy and safety aspects, which are integrated within the browser, including a completely free no-log vpn service, a native advertisement blocker, and a tracker blocker. Additionally, users may use a safer clipboard integrated right into the browser, which enables them to copy and paste securely without exposing private data.
