Opera has revealed intentions to integrate NEAR Protocol compatibility to its in-house cryptocurrency wallet, Opera Touch. According to a news statement from the business, the connection would enable users to transmit trades 1000s of times at a lower cost on the Ethereum network.
Users are allowed to trade NEAR-based assets instantly inside the Opera browser, thanks to NEAR’s permissionless Rainbow Bridge, which allows moving ERC-20 and ERC-712 tokens.
“NEAR will transform another Key Layer 1 blockchain to be integrated into the Opera browser, transforming Opera’s non-custodial wallet into a genuinely multi-chain wallet,” the firm said.
According to the firm, NEAR will be accessible in the Opera browser for Android in the upcoming weeks. It is unknown when or if Opera intends to provide the same functionality for iOS devices.
Opera has turned out to be the world’s foremost browser to offer Web 3 functionalities and an incorporated cryptocurrency wallet throughout its mobile and PC browsers in March 2020.
Opera users now have exposure to the cloudless, decentralized web of the future thanks to a collaboration with Unstoppable Domains, a blockchain name system based on the Ethereum blockchain.
