OKG and FTChinese.com Host Web3 Security Seminar at Hong Kong University

Blockchain leader OKG, in collaboration with FTChinese.com, recently co-hosted a Web3 security seminar at Hong Kong University (HKU), entitled “FT innovation talk #LinkWeb3.0 Security Seminar.” This event brought together over 50 industry practitioners and students from HKU, featuring panel discussions and keynote speeches addressing the rapid growth of the Web3 and virtual asset industry, along with the security challenges it faces. The seminar also explored strategies to promote compliant growth and development within the industry.

Distinguished speakers included HKU Associate Vice-President Kong Chen Lin, FTChinese.com Editor in Chief Feng Wang, Ashurst Law Firm Partner Lance Jiang, Hashkey Group Head of Compliance Samuel Lok, and University of Hong Kong Assistant Professor Yushun Huang. The event received support from organizations like HKU Business School.

Key Discussions on Web3 Security, Compliance, and Transparency

The seminar’s key points of discussion included the significance of on-chain transparency and asset security in ensuring the sustainable growth of the FinTech industry in Hong Kong. Lance Jiang, in his address, provided insights on how users can protect themselves from instances of fraud when engaging in virtual asset trading.

Hedy Bi highlighted the importance of internal self-monitoring and risk management measures, with a particular focus on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing. Samuel Lok emphasized the critical role of user security awareness education and regulatory compliance in the virtual asset industry.

During a round-table discussion, the guests proposed the establishment of an “industry self-discipline alliance.” The primary objective of this proposed alliance is to enhance communication between enterprises and regulators, fostering stronger security and compliance in virtual asset transactions.

The motivation behind OKG’s participation in hosting this seminar was twofold. First and foremost, it aimed to showcase its technological expertise within the Web3 domain. Secondly, it sought to highlight its all-in-one anti-money laundering (AML) platform known as OKLink Onchain AML. This product serves as a robust solution for ensuring compliance and risk detection within virtual asset companies, DeFi projects, and financial institutions.

OKLink Onchain AML operates through a combination of advanced technologies such as know-your-transaction, know-your-address, blockchain indicators, and security audits. These features collectively provide a comprehensive solution to address the compliance and security needs of the rapidly evolving virtual asset industry.

In conclusion, the “FT innovation talk #LinkWeb3.0 Security Seminar” hosted by OKG and FTChinese.com at Hong Kong University brought together experts, industry practitioners, and students to discuss the pressing issues related to Web3 security and compliance. The seminar’s highlights included conversations about on-chain transparency, safeguarding against fraud, internal self-monitoring, user security awareness, and the potential formation of an industry self-discipline alliance. OKG leveraged this event to display its technological prowess and promote its OKLink Onchain AML platform, which promises to play a vital role in fostering secure and compliant growth within the virtual asset industry.
