Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of Thumbay Group, stated: “We anticipate having it available to the public before October of this year. People will be able to visit this fully functional virtual hospital in the guise of an avatar for consultations with the on-call physician. Patients who visit Thumbay healthcare centre from elsewhere will be given the opportunity to view the virtual version of the hospital in order to accommodate the growing industry of medical tourism.”
Long-term patients and persons who have illnesses that are permanent may find these technological advancements in healthcare to be quite helpful.
Dr Moideen pointed out that “For instance, a Sri Lankan national who was injured in a vehicle crash and subsequently became paralyzed has been staying with us for a considerable amount of time. The man’s sensory movements have stopped, but his brain is still active. Through the use of AR and VAR technologies, he is able to visually explore his accommodation in Sri Lanka. Patients who are receiving long-term care benefit from this since it inspires them and offers them faith that they may one day return home.”
The team also intends to utilize virtual reality (VR) technology as well as face-recognition cameras. According to Vice President Akbar Moideen Thumbay, the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) into their healthcare system would help to determine a patient based on the face in addition to the patient’s vehicle number plate.
Akbar further stated “Therefore, by the time a patient comes at the registration desk, his file will already be opened on the computer. The step of presenting identification or an insurance document will no longer be necessary. When a patient comes into the drugstore to pick up his or her medication, cameras will identify the patient’s appearance, and the software will relay this information to the pharmacist.”
Earlier, in January 2022, during Arab Health 2022, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Health and Community Protection (MOHAP) had stated that they would be opening the world’s initial customer service center that was equipped with Metaverse technology. It will be developed in such a way that it readily satisfies the needs of the consumer in three-dimensional space, while simultaneously offering the client sensory information that are both interactive and digitally realistic.
