The partnership will last for twenty-four months, during which time Lickd will provide curated playlists and genre-specific ‘radio channels’ for inclusion in Vegas City’s music player. This player is responsible for providing music for the background in venues and public spaces located all across the district and Decentraland. Because of this arrangement, all of the venues in Vegas City will finally have access for the first time to commercial music that is available in the metaverse.
Paul Sampson, CEO Lickd commented: “This is a significant initiative for Lickd in terms of extending our product into the metaverse, and it is also a significant step for the metaverse with respect to being able to streamline the music licensing option. Our joy at joining forces with Vegas City and moving one step closer to establishing ourselves as the market leader in terms of the quality of the micro-licensing services we provide is indescribable. We are continuing to produce cutting-edge technologies that are beneficial to both the networks and content owners that we collaborate with, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the potential that this will bring as a result.”
Lickd is the only music licensing service that comes pre-cleared and is designed for social video makers. The platform makes available for licensed use on YouTube and other user-generated content websites music that has been released by both independent and large record companies. Lickd is energizing the music-maker sector with a slew of new business options because it is making licensed music available to nearly everyone. Previously, obtaining licensed music was only the purview of professional production businesses. Following Epic Games’ investment in the firm in 2021, Lickd has taken another leap into the metaverse by forming this collaboration with Vegas City.
James Ashton, CEO of Vegas City, said “We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Lickd, which will enable us to provide our associates and tenants in Vegas City with exposure to a sizable library of commercial music that, up until that moment, has not been made accessible to them. This transaction will not only provide enormous value for our current customers, but it will also expose artists, record companies, and music enthusiasts to a entirely new realm of potential opportunities.”
