Katla, an eco friendly, tailor made womenswear boutique, yet again collaborated with Icelandic artist Hendrikka Waage to develop an NFT collection titled “Wonderful Beings.” The decline comprises 10,000 distinct ‘Wonderful Beings’ depicting powerful women and ‘Climate Warriors’ with an only one ear. Fifteen percent of the revenues from the NFTs (15 percent of sales from the first drop and 15 percent of recurring royalties after taxation and transaction charges are deducted) will be allocated to the production of seaweed in Iceland.
“The prospect for NFTs to collect revenue for beneficial environmental effect excites me tremendously. According to Aslaug Magnusdottir, CEO and creator of Katla, the fashion sector generates around 10% of worldwide greenhouse gases and is the second largest water-polluting activity.
“Katla is profoundly moved by the magnificence of the ocean and is committed to educating ocean lovers regarding ocean regeneration. As a business, we must assume responsibility and contribute to the planet’s recovery.”
A team of one hundred female athletes, businessmen, and creative agencies back the generation of the NFT as cofounders. Members include Rebecca Minkoff, the creator of Glamsquad Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, the founder of Laundress Gwen Whiting, Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding Julia Duyjmovits, the chief executive officer of the Global Blockchain Business Council Sandra Ro, and Vikings actor Ragga Ragnars.
Magnusdottir remarked, “Our core members are experts with different backgrounds, including Olympic athletes, ocean environmentalists, businessmen, and company CEOs.” Collectively, we are passionately driven to encourage ocean regeneration, which is one of the most important factors in combating global warming.
Katla teamed with tech company IVY.cash for the release of Wonderful Beings. They may be bought online at katla.com with a credit card or through scanning QR codes on Katla clothes. On Polygon, a power-efficient blockchain, the NFTs are generated.
Katla and Waage initially collaborated in March for the release of a restricted-edition sweatshirt showcasing NFT artwork that celebrates women’s empowerment.
“This has been an enlightening experience, and I am thrilled to collaborate with Katla and IVY on this endeavor. “It is thrilling to watch my creativity blossom in NFTs,” Waage remarked.
