Kaia Mainnet Launch Brings Web3 Services to Millions Across Asia

kaia mainnet launch web3 services

Kaia, a newly launched layer-1 blockchain, marks a significant milestone in the development of Web3 services across Asia with the introduction of its mainnet. The blockchain network, developed by two major messaging platforms—Kakao and LINE—aims to extend Web3 services to millions of users across the region. This mainnet launch is accompanied by the unveiling of the Kaia Wave Builder support program, an initiative designed to accelerate the adoption of decentralized applications (dApps) among consumers.

The Abu Dhabi-based company behind Kaia is one of Asia’s largest Web3 players, with a vast network of over 400 partners and a growing ecosystem. Kaia was formed following the merger of Kakao’s Klaytn blockchain and LINE’s Finschia blockchain, bringing together the strengths of these two major platforms to deliver cutting-edge blockchain services. This merger positions Kaia as the largest Web3 ecosystem in Asia, aiming to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 by integrating its services with two of Asia’s most popular messaging apps, Kakaotalk and LINE.

The integration allows Kaia to leverage the user bases of Kakaotalk and LINE, which boast a combined audience of over 250 million users. Through these messaging platforms, Kaia aims to provide users with seamless access to Web3 experiences, enabling them to engage in blockchain-based activities like creating and contributing to decentralized services. The integration of Web3 into these everyday apps lowers the barrier to entry, making blockchain technology more accessible to the general public.

Mainnet Launch Sets the Stage for Scalable Web3 Development

The Kaia mainnet is designed to offer high performance, low gas fees, and ultra-fast transaction speeds, which are key features aimed at ensuring a smooth user experience. According to Kaia, users can now take advantage of the mainnet’s robust infrastructure, which provides scalable solutions for a variety of decentralized applications, including DeFi, gaming, and real-world asset (RWA) platforms. By addressing some of Web3’s common challenges—such as user experience and distribution—Kaia aims to create a thriving ecosystem that encourages innovation across industries.

Kaia’s deep integration with popular messaging apps provides a major advantage, allowing for the distribution of Web3 services directly through platforms users are already familiar with. This strategy, which includes partnerships with major Web3 firms like LINE NEXT, is expected to drive both the platform’s development and its expansion into global markets.

Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, expressed optimism about the potential of the Kaia mainnet, describing it as a crucial step in the company’s vision for the future. Ko indicated that this new platform would facilitate the introduction of novel Web3 experiences through the development of LINE Mini DApps, which are built on Kaia’s blockchain. This, he believes, will further LINE NEXT’s business goals and expand the Web3 ecosystem across Asia.

Kaia Wave Builder Program Aims to Accelerate Web3 Development

In conjunction with the mainnet launch, Kaia also rolled out the Kaia Wave Builder support program. This initiative, supported by Kaia and LINE NEXT, seeks to fuel the growth of Web3 by providing marketing, technical, and business support to eligible teams developing on the platform. Grants of up to $1.2 million will be available for those leveraging the NEXT Web SDK, along with additional support for token generation events (TGE), liquidity, and venture capital connections.

The support program offers developers access to essential tools, such as the Kaia Wallet SDK and LINE LIFF API, enabling the creation of LINE-based mini-apps. These apps offer various functionalities, from in-app payments to advanced blockchain integrations, thereby opening new avenues for developers to connect with users across Asia. Kaia’s low transaction latency and advanced account management features will further enhance the user experience, ensuring that developers can create seamless, scalable applications.

Kaia’s Expanding Reach Across Asia

Kaia is quickly establishing itself as one of Asia’s most active Web3 ecosystems, already being utilized for diverse applications, such as loyalty programs and medical implant certification in South Korea. The merger with Finschia blockchain is expected to further strengthen Kaia’s position in the market, with several platforms, including the digital commerce platform DOSI, expected to migrate to Kaia’s infrastructure.

Through its partnership with Kakao and LINE, Kaia is positioned for rapid adoption across Asia. With Kakaotalk used by over 96% of South Koreans and LINE being the leading messenger in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, Kaia offers developers a ready-made audience for new decentralized applications. By integrating with these major platforms, Kaia aims to empower developers to create unique Web3 experiences accessible to millions of users.

As Kaia continues to expand its ecosystem, its innovative approach to Web3 development positions it as a key player in the broader blockchain landscape, not just in Asia but globally.
