Gaming Engine Unity Integrates 13 Web3 Tools Including MetaMask

The video game creation platform Unity has introduced a number of cryptocurrency platforms to its media library to aid coders interested in Web3 technology in streamlining their decentralization initiatives. Unity announced on February 28 that it had added a “Decentralization” category webpage to its download section, containing “vetted” crypto platforms for coders keen in incorporating decentralization into their initiatives.

MetaMask was one of the thirteen platforms presented on the platform, with its Software Development Kit (SDK) added to assist coders in enabling customers to link their MetaMask wallet to “any Unity-developed game.” The SDKs for blockchains such as Solana (SOL) and Tezos (XTZ) have also been introduced to the shop, along with the programmer tool Immutable X for those who wish to create Web3 applications on the Ethereum blockchain.

As per Unity, the integrations will allow game makers to change “concepts of ownership” and empower players to generate, gain, or purchase in-game goods that can then be transferred or traded. A recent DappRadar study indicates that 48% of all blockchain engagement in January 2023 was generated by gamers.

According to the study, an increase in curiosity in gaming tokens is a result of mainstream Web3 gaming-related developments and headlines. Sara Gherghelas, a blockchain analyst at DappRadar, stated that blockchain gaming is already “a vertical” in the conventional industry and that as blockchain technology obtains more momentum, it will also offer “more usage” to Web3 games, causing them to “become widespread.”

Kieran Warwick, co-founder of Illivium, told Cointelegraph on January 24 that the “real hurdle” for blockchain gaming is attracting “passive gamers” because people believe that blockchain titles are of “poorer quality.”
