Etihad Airways Expands NFT Collection with Exclusive Benefits for Holders

Etihad Airways, the flagship carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is preparing to introduce a captivating expansion of 300 editions to its EY-ZERO1 non-fungible token (NFT) collection, which is based on the Polygon platform. The forthcoming launch on August 1 will introduce the eleventh 3D aircraft model to the esteemed EY-ZERO1 NFT collection. This limited-edition release follows the collection’s initial debut in July 2022. The recently launched non-fungible tokens (NFTs) draw inspiration from the Mission: Impossible-themed Boeing 787 Dreamliner. These NFTs were unveiled during a promotional tour for the highly anticipated film “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.”

The holders of the recently launched NFT collection can anticipate a diverse array of exclusive advantages. These include being granted Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, enjoying priority check-in services, gaining access to lounges at Abu Dhabi International Airport, and having the opportunity to stake their assets and earn miles. Upon its initial launch, the EY-ZERO1 collection provided holders with the esteemed privilege of Etihad Silver Tier status for a duration of one year. Additionally, these esteemed holders were granted exclusive access to a highly sought-after event specifically curated for NFT holders at the prestigious Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 race.

The partnership between Etihad Airways and Arcube, a company specializing in real-world asset tokenization, has facilitated the development of these advanced NFT offerings. Arcube has been officially recognized as the Web3 partner of Etihad Airways, playing a crucial role in supporting the airline’s efforts to expand its blockchain-based initiatives. The NFTs can be purchased using either cryptocurrency or credit cards, facilitated by the participation of infrastructure company Crossmint.

Etihad’s vision extends beyond the provision of exclusive NFT collectibles. The airline has announced its intention to introduce a new loyalty program called “Horizon Club” in September. Our program will implement a staking-for-miles feature, enabling community members to securely lock their NFTs and accrue Etihad Guest Miles as a reward. NFT holders can enhance the value proposition by redeeming these miles for flights, upgrades, and a range of other perks.

There is a growing trend within the airline industry towards the adoption of Web3 loyalty programs. Etihad has joined the group of progressive airlines that are actively exploring the possibilities of blockchain technology in order to provide their customers with innovative rewards. In a similar manner, Flybondi, a budget-friendly airline based in Argentina, has formed a partnership with TravelX, a company specializing in NFT ticketing. As a result, Flybondi now provides all of its tickets in the form of NFTs on the Algorand blockchain. In addition, TravelX has previously partnered with Air Europa, a Spanish airline, to launch a collection of NFT tickets that are associated with unique benefits and special events. In a similar vein, All Nippon Airways (ANA), the largest airline group in Japan, has recently introduced its NFT marketplace. This move sets the foundation for a comprehensive Web3 strategy, which includes offering a metaverse travel experience where passengers’ flight histories are seamlessly integrated into their digital avatars.
