The eCedi Hackathon successfully brought together developers, banks, fintech innovators, and the Bank of Ghana to pilot EMTECH’s tokenized CBDC solution. The initiative explored key objectives and relevant use cases for the Ghanaian market, including merchant payments, government payments, lending, crowdfunding, and transparent taxation. With partners such as West Africa, Ghana Fintech Association, HBAR Foundation, and KPMG, the collaborative effort was deemed groundbreaking.

A Select Group Engages in Prototyping Solutions

Out of 88 applications received, the Bank of Ghana selected 10 participants for the hackathon, providing them with dedicated platforms, Institutional Wallets, and 1,000 BYDC-eCedi tokens to prototype various solutions. Access to pre-built BYDC-eCedi APIs facilitated technical integration and standardized wallet creation and transactions. All transactions were conducted using Hedera’s token and public ledger services, ensuring transparency in transactions while safeguarding user privacy.
