A Reuters report at the start of this month pointed out that the county may not make the vaccine compulsory, but news published on September 9 by MercoPress projected Covid-19 shot to begin next year.
Brazil now intends to utilize a blockchain powered platform referred to as the National Health Data Network (RNDS).
The system, built using Hyperledger Fabric blockchain infrastructure, tracks any individual who had Covid-19 shots on a contiuous basis, according to Elmo Raposo Oliveira Ministry of Health’s coordinator of systems development.
Oliveira added:
“So the Covid-19 vaccine will already be within our RNDS structure. So, when you get the vaccine you will already hit the RNDS here and we will already know who took it.”
Soon after the completion of every vaccination program, the platform receives info on the individuals who got the shot and saves the data on the blockchain. The primary intention of the RNDS is to foster the exchange of info between the points of Health Care Network, paving way for continuation of health care in public and private sectors.
Oliveira further detailed as follows:
“RNDS ‘objective is to promote the exchange of information between the points of the Health Care Network, allowing continuity of care in the public and private sectors.”
The system supposedly paves way for better vaccine tracking, data precision and overall efficiency. . RNDS also consists of info related to patients, including therapies and other drugs taken.
Brazil is currently testing a kind of Covid-19 shot which was developed through a partnership between the University of Oxford and British pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, also referred to as the Oxford Vaccine. Brazil is also looking at CoronaVac, a vaccine developed by China,
Brazil also currently has its eye on a China-based vaccination called CoronaVac — stemming from collaborative vaccination efforts between the two countries. The news has come at a time when governments across the globe are facing huge issues in tracking Covid-19 infections.
