The software firm’s Japanese subsidiary, Brave Software International SEZC, has entered into a partnership with Japanese cryptocurrency exchange BitFlyer to reward its Japanese users with BAT.
Under the collaboration, both parties joined together to build a cryptocurrency wallet in the Brave browser, permitting Japanese users to gain BAT for watching Brave advertisements.
Japanese users of Brave will also be able to purchase or sell BAT on BitFlyer, along with using BAT to tip content creators and publishers. Even though several Japanese cryptocurrency exchanges back BAT, including BitFlyer, prevailing regulations prohibit users in Japan from earning BAT by watching advertisements.
Japanese users of Brave are currently rewarded BAT Points, but there is no way to redeem or exchange it in any manner. That is where the partnership plays a role. BitFlyer detailed that the wallet will enable users to receive and store BAT as the exchange is regulated by Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA).
Earlier in July, BitFlyer and Brave had earlier announced that they would create “a crypto asset wallet for Brave browser users.” The intended crypto wallet has been named “the Integrated Wallet” and is anticipated to introduce in November 2020.
Kumihiro Mine, president of BitFlyer, stated that the collaboration would “serve as a model case for new possibilities for cryptocurrency, not just as an investment option. Even those who have not been exposed to cryptocurrency will feel more familiar with them by increasing the opportunities to own and use cryptocurrency through the Brave browser.”
