Brave Mobile Browser Starts Supporting Solana on iOS and Android Devices

The Brave mobile browser now supports Solana decentralized applications, its makers revealed on Tuesday. The Brave desktop browser launched support for the famous proof-of-stake (Pos) blockchain in 2022. On Twitter, Brave revealed the mobile connectivity, stating that users can currently link with Solana NFT marketplaces Magic Eden and Orca and Jupiter Exchange bitcoin exchanges.

Amelia Daly, Head of Partnerships at Solana Foundation, stated in a press statement that improvements in UX and mobility are among the most significant methods for onboarding new users.

“User engagement in crypto may be really splintered,” Daly added. “The Brave DApp integration is crucial since it enables browser powered access to your preferred Solana applications.”

Brave and Solana Labs revealed a joint merger in November 2021. Brave stated at the moment that it was switching to Solana owing to the network’s fast speed and cheap cost in comparison to Ethereum, which had not yet completed the long-awaited merging that changed the Ethereum blockchain from proof-of-work (pow) to proof-of-stake (pos). The mobile connection, according to Brave, seeks to increase security and reduce the need to switch between applications to sign transactions. Brave faces stiff competition from browsers that include blockchain functionality.

Five years back, Opera implemented a cryptocurrency wallet and decentralized application browser to its Android mobile browser, followed by iOS in 2019. The initial version of Opera’s “Crypto Browser” was published in January 2022. It has an in-built wallet that handles NFTs, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and others, as well as connections to various famous crypto sites and news sources. Two years back , Opera was the initial browser to provide native support for Unstoppable Domains.

Notwithstanding Opera’s lead start, Brave demonstrated that it was ready for the task of evolving into the preferred mobile Web3 browser. Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave, stated in a statement, “With the inclusion of Solana DApp functionality on mobile, we’re extending our presence to other major demographic seeking quick and user-friendly methods to utilize their bitcoin on the move.”
