BlockCard is rolling out Litecoin (LTC) based Visa debit card. The blockchain’s founder Charlie Lee pointed out that it is their second effort as the earlier one did not succeed:
Lee said “We previously worked with LitePay on a debit card but that failed when LitePay went out of business.”
Lee also pointed out the difference between Litecoin based debit card and rest of the debit cards that support Litecoin:
“There are other crypto debit cards available today that support Litecoin, but they only support funding with LTC. This card is natively LTC, so funds are kept in LTC until you swipe the card.”
Even though Litecoin holders can register for the card, it will take few more weeks for the service to go live. Jokingly, Lee said that there is nothing called as “Litecoin maximalist”:
“I don’t think that even exists. Most Litecoiners support and hold BTC also.”
Holders of the crypto card can make deposits in 12 popular cryptos, including several well-known stablecoins. As per Lee, roughly 300 users have registered so far. In the meantime, Litecoin continues to remain in the list of top ten cryptos by market cap and has formidable followers on social media.
