Binance, a blockchain technology-focused firm and a cryptocurrency exchange operator, has revealed a partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo to develop a non-fungible token (NFT) series.
Binance stated in a news release that the NFT series would provide soccer fans unparalleled access to Cristiano Ronaldo, also nicknamed CR7. The NFTs will be accessible on Binance’s NFT network on November 18, one day before to the opening of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on November 20.
He Yi, co-founder, and chief marketing officer of Binance, stated that the company believes the metaverse and blockchain represent the online world’s future.
“We think the metaverse and blockchain are the world wide web future. We are thrilled to work with Cristiano Ronaldo to aid people grasp blockchain technology and to demonstrate how we are constructing Web3 platform for the sports and entertainment sector.”
CR7 said, “It was crucial to me that we developed something distinct and unforgettable for my supporters since they are such an integrated component of my career. With Binance, I am able to create a product that not only represents the fervor of the game, but also compensates fans for their support throughout the years.”
The NFT series will include animated sculptures depicting seven memorable events from CR7’s lifetime and illustrious soccer history, with four rarity tiers. Five Super Super Rare (SSR) and forty Super Rare (SR) pieces will be auctioned on the Binance NFT platform with opening bids of 10,000 BUSD for SSR and 1,700 BUSD for SR, respectively.
It will also include 600 Rare (R), 6000, and Normal (N) coins that will be available on Binance for a base price of 77 BUSD for the Normal rarity. Every rarity tier will include rewards such as personalized greetings from the soccer player, signed memorabilia, priority to subsequent drops, free CR7 Mystery boxes, and entrance into sweepstakes.
Binance revealed the CR7 NFT series collaboration in July, but it is not the lone soccer-themed NFT initiative to emerge in 2022. In September, FIFA itself introduced FIFA+ Collect, a marketplace for digital memorabilia on Algorand (ALGO), before to the 20 November commencement of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Earlier in November, payments processing firm Visa auctioned its soccer-themed NFTs on the cryptocurrency market Crypto.com. Interestingly, Crypto.com secured a sponsorship agreement with FIFA for the 2022 World Cup.
