Binance, the popular cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that it will reward the white hat hacker who jeopardized Binance Jersey’s internet domain name and Twitter account.
Binance Jersey announced in a report issued by the crypto exchange that a white hat hacker could enter the @BinanceJE Twitter feed (the formal profile of Binance Jersey) and the Internet web address of the platform.
Still, in the next few minutes, the business was able to retrieve the domain address and Twitter handle in the next few hours. The hacker broke in “by social engineering the email domain name service provider” according to the announcement, and then published a handful of tweets from the formal account of the firm, deleting them subsequently.
In addition, the hacker was supposedly collaborative and honest throughout his communication with the safety staff of the exchange, which enabled the Twitter address to be recovered quickly.
The firm stated:
“We were able to restore the domain name within a few minutes and the Twitter handle a couple of hours later. We will issue a security bug bounty to the white hat hacker, as well as investigate the incident further with our service provider. […] All funds on Binance.JE are safe. No data was compromised.”
They told Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao to get in touch with them privately in one of the tweets from yet another email, allegedly operated by the same hacker. At the time of writing this article, all the hacker’s tweets were removed from the Twitter page of Binance Jersey.
