Banco Santander and Oxentia Initiates Global Blockchain Challenge

Spain headquartered Banco Santander has joined hands with Oxentia Foundation to launch a blockchain project competition in 11 countries. In this regard, both organizations have invited interested participants to partake in the event and prove their ability. The winning project will receive a cash reward as well.

Specifically, startups and even those involved in scaling up their projects are encouraged to present ideas that resolve issues such as privacy and safety of blockchain ecosystems. Even projects enhancing DeFi and tokenization are encouraged. Even startups involved in improving and deepening digital dealings with users via technologies such as metaverse and Web3 are invited to participate.

Firms operating in Germany, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, the US, Poland, Mexico, Portugal, and the UK are allowed to participate in the contest. The last date for submission of interest is June 9 after which a team of professionals will choose 20 finalists to participate in a pitch day.

The top three chosen projects will receive €10,000 each. Additionally, three winning initiatives involved in scaling up will be awarded €30,000 each.

Furthermore, winners will also gain access to Santander’s fraternity of start-ups, referred to as Santander X 100. This will pave way for the winners to receive training and suggestion, customers, funding, and even human resource.

Commenting on the initiative, Coty de Monteverde, chief of cryptocurrency and blockchain center of excellence, Banco Santander, said:

“Although blockchain technology has a long road ahead before getting fully integrated into people’s and businesses’ everyday lives, Santander Universities wants to assist startups and even those involved in scaling up their business models with creative use of the technology to get awareness and recognition.”
