Animoca Brands has formed a partnership with Sony’s Soneium blockchain to establish a robust identity infrastructure through Moca Network and enhance anime-centric experiences on Soneium. This collaboration involves deploying Moca Network’s identity layer on the Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, which is powered by Optimism’s Superchain technology.
As part of the initiative, Moca Network will introduce its Account, Identity, and Reputation SDK (AIR SDK) to the Soneium blockchain. This integration will offer users embedded accounts, distinctive identities, and digital credentials while navigating decentralized applications (dApps). The first major implementation of this technology will be through Anime ID, a decentralized identifier (DID) and reputation layer developed by San FranTokyo, a key contributor to the Anime Foundation. The goal is to enhance engagement for anime enthusiasts and allow Soneium partners to issue and validate data credentials.
Promoting Anime-Themed Campaigns and Digital Engagement
In collaboration with Animoca Brands, San FranTokyo is planning to launch anime-inspired cultural campaigns on Soneium. These initiatives are designed to onboard anime fans to the blockchain ecosystem, fostering stronger connections through immersive digital experiences. The emphasis will be on creating vibrant, interactive anime-themed experiences powered by blockchain technology.
Soneium, developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) — a collaborative venture between Sony Group Corporation and Startale Group — is committed to expanding the potential of the open internet. Sony Group’s focus on leveraging creativity and technology to evoke emotions aligns with the mission of enhancing digital interactions.
Advancing Web3 Identity and Interconnected Digital Experiences
Executives from both companies have expressed optimism regarding the partnership. They emphasized that integrating Moca Network’s identity infrastructure on Soneium will not only elevate entertainment experiences but also create a unified digital ecosystem. Through this initiative, users will have seamless digital identities that connect anime, gaming, and blockchain technologies.
The collaboration is expected to transform the landscape of the anime industry within the Web3 space. By incorporating Moca Network’s AIR SDK and Anime ID into Soneium, the companies aim to onboard a global audience of anime enthusiasts. This transition will enable fans to collaborate, create, and explore anime-inspired content using blockchain’s decentralized capabilities.
San FranTokyo’s leadership also highlighted their commitment to expanding Anime ID’s presence on Soneium. Working alongside Moca Network and Soneium, they intend to connect anime fans across various ecosystems, delivering enriched digital experiences.
Cross-Chain Integration for Unified Digital Identities
Looking beyond Soneium, Moca Network’s AIR SDK will extend its integration to other chains, including Base and Plume. The overarching vision is to facilitate cross-ecosystem connectivity by tokenizing diverse forms of data. This will empower users with a universal digital identity, unlocking rewards and access across multiple blockchain networks.
Through these collective efforts, Animoca Brands, Sony’s Soneium, and San FranTokyo are striving to set new standards in the convergence of anime, blockchain, and digital identity. This strategic partnership underscores their dedication to enhancing Web3 experiences while fostering a more inclusive and connected digital landscape.
