In 2019, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the leading global provider of cloud services, launched Amazon Managed Blockchain. Since then, AWS has been actively expanding its presence in the Web3 industry. In the earlier part of this year, Amazon made public its new job listings for Web3 personnel, which serves as a clear indication of the company’s ongoing commitment to the advancement of blockchain technology.
The introduction of AMB Access significantly improves its node offerings by offering serverless and scalable access to blockchains. Developers are able to engage with digital assets and distributed applications across various blockchains without the need for specialized infrastructure. This is made possible through the utilization of standard remote procedure calls.
In its initial phase, AMB Access will provide support for the Bitcoin network, enabling developers to access blockchain data from multiple chains. This access will be facilitated through the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) offered by the AMB Query service. The supported chains will include Bitcoin and Ethereum, among others. The pricing structure for these services adheres to a pay-as-you-go methodology.
Amazon has identified several potential applications for these functions, such as custodial and wallet crypto applications, as well as Web3 consumer engagement campaigns that integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Saman Michael Far, the Vice President of Financial Services Technology at AWS, states that the implementation of Amazon Managed Blockchain Access and Query enables seamless access to blockchain networks and their data, streamlining the development of Web3 applications.
