Adidas Launches NFT Wearables Names Virtual Gear

Nearly one year after Adidas entered the metaverse, and days after Nike publicly revealed its initial large-scale web3 initiative, Dot Swoosh, the corporation has presented a 16-piece virtual jacket line. The Adidas Originals: Capsule NFT Collection consists of approximately 30,000 non-wearable NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that the business offered for sale last year. Owners have the choice of revealing the product they’ve earned by burning the actual Capsule NFT they hold and replacing it with the fresh product, or selling it for financial gain.

The 16 distinct jackets are a portion of a fresh product category referred by adidas as Virtual Gear. They are intended to be worn by digital avatars and are accessible via a PFP attire tool, and their futureproof attributes guarantee that they are compatible with the rest of the identity-driven projects and realms, including the ones that are currently under development.

Although Adidas didn’t disclose details, The Sandbox is a plausible choice, since the business revealed the acquisition of 144 pieces of land in the final leg of November 2021 very soon after establishing a relationship with Coinbase.

Adidas / studio VP Erika Wykes-Sneyes stated, “With our society and creator environment at the center, Adidas will examine every feasible functionality, framework, and encounter within Web3 to unleash endless opportunities for our wearables, with an emphasis on material value and unchanging utility for our community stakeholders.” “Whatever the circumstance, whoever the location, Adidas is associated with boundary-breaking.” Now, in whatever other universes they want to occupy.”

While the range is not yet complete, it is evident that Adidas is playing with its history while looking optimistically to the future. For instance, the “NEOBONE” piece was influenced by the the exclusive patch of the brand’s legendary Superstar. Three of the wilder ideas in the series contain the artwork of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Gmoney, and Punks Comics, in keeping with an ongoing cooperation.

Nic Galway, senior vice president of artistic direction for Adidas Originals, continues, “Creatively, we are tremendously delighted to announce that this virtual collection marks more than simply a first for Adidas. It also signifies apparel that transcends both time and space, a vibrantly diversified society, and a degree of functionality that may be examined and even found as realms and personas take on new shapes.”
