Even though the overall figures for Polygon NFTs were impressive, OpenSea lost 23% of its supremacy over the year. The total number of NFT transactions conducted on the platform decreased by 25%. OpenSea had approximately 80,000 transactions by the beginning of 2022. Nevertheless, the numbers continued to decline, reaching a low of 60,000 by December 31, representing a decline of 25%.
Conversely, OpenSea’s share of the market has suffered a significant knock as well. The site’s market share dropped from 50% to 33% in the last year. OpenSea was responsible for 20% of total ETH gas use, which decreased to 9% at the end.
Nevertheless, Polygon NFTs’ appeal has held the ecosystem in balance. Traders predict OpenSea to return in the coming months for this reason.
