Grayscale Investments Survey Reveals Over 25% of US Investors Own Bitcoin

Grayscale Investments, the world’s leading crypto currency asset manager, today issued its third annual research on investor mindsets and viewpoints on Bitcoin, the 2021 Bitcoin Investor Study. Grayscale and financial market research company 8 Acre Perspective performed the survey, which reveals continuous rise in interest, awareness, and use of Bitcoin and the broader digital currency environment.

Among the main insights:

“The findings of the 2021 Bitcoin Investor Study reveal that an increasing number of investors foresee long-term potential in adding Bitcoin and crypto currencies to their investment portfolios,” stated Grayscale Investments CEO Michael Sonnenshein. “While it’s good to see opinions about cryptocurrency continuing to shift, this business is still in its infancy. It is essential on all of us to stay vigilant in schooling the investing public so that investors of all ages and demographics may take advantage of this once-in-a-generation chance.”

For the foremost time, investors are three times more likely to see Bitcoin as a store of value than they are to view it as a currency, with more than half (55 percent) of respondents indicating that they view Bitcoin as a long-term investment potential for a diversified investment plan.

In 2021, the demographics of Bitcoin investors altered as well. While those most intrigued in Bitcoin investments are still younger, male, and more “risk tolerant,” interest in Bitcoin investment products has increased significantly among both “older” and “female” investors, with 46% of investors aged 55-64 indicating they would “definitely” or “probably” consider Bitcoin investments (a 16 percent increase from 2020).

For the first time in the survey’s history, more than half (53 percent) of female respondents expressed an interest in investing in Bitcoin (up from 47 percent in 2020). Above everything else, the poll revealed a growth in desire for knowledge on Crypto currencies, as well as investment exposure.
