Ether Continues to Scale New Highs as Vitalik Buterin Turns Into Billionaire

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is the latest to become a cryptocurrency billionaire. The main Ethereum wallet used by the creator of arguably the number one smart contract platform has now $1 billion worth Ether (ETH), the native crypto of Ethereum blockchain. Buterin had disclosed his main wallet address back in 2018.

Buterin’s networth hit $1 billion after the price of Ether crossed $3,000 earlier today. While writing this article, Ether was trading at $3,157.32, an increase of 7.2% in the last 24 hours.

Buterin’s wallet holds about 333,500 Ether, implying a value of about $1.03 billion, as per on-chain data provided by Etherscan. Notably, the value of Ether has more than quadrupled from $700 at the start of this year.

Ether has gained 36% in the last seven days, as per data provided by CoinGecko. As per certain online cryptocurrency advocates, 27-year old Buterin is likely the youngest self-made billionaire in the crypto sector.

Against the backdrop of rising prices, Buterin has proven to be a great philanthropist. In the final leg of April, the Russian-Canadian coder donated 100 Ether and 100 Maker (MKR) tokens for Covid-19 relief program for India.
