Amazon Insider Reveals e-Commerce Giant’s Plan to Accept Bitcoin Payments in 2021

According to City A.M. in London, an unidentified insider within Amazon has stated that the e-commerce powerhouse plans to allow Bitcoin (BTC) payments by the end of this year, potentially paving the way for greater public adoption of crypto based dealings. As per an article written Sunday, the undisclosed insider told City A.M., “This isn’t simply going with the flow to set up cryptocurrency payment options at some point down the road — this is a full-blown, well-discussed, fundamental component of the future operation of how Amazon will function.”

While Bitcoin is the foremost phase in Amazon’s crypto aspirations, she stated that the company’s management are eager to include more well-known altcoins in the coming years. She said that the “diktat is originating from the very highest level,” alluding to Jeff Bezos, and that the “entire operation is very well ready for action.”

Amazon is believed to be considering the establishment of its own cryptocurrency, potentially as soon as 2022, in order to take Bitcoin payments. After a new career opening for “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead” surfaced on Amazon’s career page days ago, curiosity about the company’s foray into the cryptocurrency industry has been rife for days.

The new recruit will assist with the development of Amazon’s digital currency plan and product pipeline, according to the job requirements. Deep domain experience in blockchain, distributed ledgers, central bank digital currencies, and cryptocurrencies broadly is required for this role. It’s not the first time Amazon has advertised a crypto-related position. The e-commerce behemoth hired a technical head in February to assist in the development of its new “Digital and Emerging Payments” platform.
