Hume is among the companies investigating the overlap between digital artists, NFTs, and web3 networks. Having raised $11.7m in finance in September 2022, it has currently spent a portion of that money on a purchase.
Blocktones was formed by Gino Borri, who was also the executive producer of Snoop Dogg’s existing collection of NFTs for The Sandbox. He will continue to serve as the president of Blocktones and Hume A&R.
It’s an intriguing pairing, given that Hume has been establishing its own roster of digital artists (or “metastars” as it puts them) and Blocktones’ NFTs have been bundles of music roots that customers can then utilize to make their own songs.
Hume stated that the transaction is an effort to “scale its goals to assist artists in becoming their own worldwide metastars” and that “Blocktones’ open-source rhythms could serve as a musical cornerstone for future participants.” In the final leg of 2022, the two organizations partnered on a songwriting session.
