LG CNS released the DDIDID, its blockchain-powered employee identity card. This type of service employs blockchain technology for mobile identification. The corporation announced this on Tuesday of this week. LG CNS has even begun issuing these revolutionary ID cards to its internal staff. According to The Korea Times, the DDIDID has several applications and can reproduce the majority of the functionalities of conventional plastic based ID cards.
Among the possible applications are paying for meals or drinks at coffee shops and accessing the workplace cafeteria. The associate company of LG Corporation that offers information technology solutions also disclosed that it would quickly include more features to the blockchain-based DDIDID, for instance the inking of digital agreements utilizing the mobile ID, the utilization of public commuter buses, and the disbursal of various certificates.
The mobile ID’s name, according to LG CNS, signifies “digital distributed identity” validating technology. This was created so that workers may more efficiently handle their individual data on their mobile gadgets and disseminate it as required.
Personal identity information for employees using DDIDID will be retained on their cellphones. If they utilize a facility that requires identity validation, they may easily supply the necessary data using their smartphone ID.
This blockchain-powered ID system, according to LG CNS, will avoid personal information breaches and dangerous cyber invasions. This is due to the fact that the platform will only offer the data necessary for certain activities. In the cafeteria, for example, the ID will only disclose the owner’s Identification number, omitting unnecessary information such as phone and place of residence enrollment number.
