Power’d Digital leveraged CENNZnet, New Zealand’s biggest public blockchain and decentralized applications framework, to implement the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix’s 2022 AusGP Access initiative. This is the initial use of the CENNZnet platform, notably the NFT runtime module, in a real – time event engagement scenario.
Power’d Digital, an Australian pioneer in sports tokens and collectibles, developed a blockchain-powered fan site that offered fans with tradable tokens and allowed a distinct activities program. As experts in the use of blockchain technology to sporting events and entertainment, Power’d choose the CENNZnet platform to provide a more personalized fan engagement.
The AusGP Access program was created with easiness as a primary framework element. Fans paid token packs (5 tokens each pack) that served as a digital lanyard to uncover exclusive perks and interactions, like reduced products, pre-sale connect, pit lane visits, and much more. Thousands of token bundles were bought, and a substantial number were later donated to friends, maximizing the usefulness offered by blockchain technology.
In the past, only corporate sponsors and partners have had access to exclusive on-track events, or such experiences have been tied to the purchase of higher-priced tickets. For the benefit of all fans, the new AusGP Access program has leveled the playing field so that they may all take part in exclusive events. Using tokens, fans could also participate in an online auction for Track Hot Laps, which included riding shotgun on a lap around the Grand Prix Circuit at speeds of up to 250km/h in full GP mode.
In her capacity as CEO of CENNZnet, Nicole Upchurch praised the F1 Australian Grand Prix 2022 Access project as a fan-focused effort that provided an excellent use of CENNZnet’s blockchain technology.
“Even though there was robust technology supporting the tokens, users just had to worry about navigating a user-friendly website to engage in activities like buying, selling, trading, and trading (or phone app). It was difficult to know blockchain was even involved! This is a sign of the fans taking the reins, and it bodes well for the future of fandom “what she has to say
According to Power’d Digital CEO Scott Dinsdale, the firm could not have chosen better partners than Arthur, the fan-focused staff at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and CENNZnet.
“We excitedly anticipate next year and are committed to enhancing fan engagement, value, and experience in live sport throughout the globe,” he adds.
Arthur Gillion, the general manager of marketing and experience for the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, describes AusGP Access as a first for Australian sport.
“Utilizing the power of the blockchain to provide novel and exciting experiences that bring fans closer than ever before to the action and event. It granted early access to presales, unique viewing locations, exclusive programming, helicopter views of the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, and even hot laps, among other exhilarating experiences” he claims.
AusGP Access shifted from tying experiences to ticket purchases to more personalized fan involvement. Fans may choose their preferred activities and prizes from a list, creating a choose-your-own-adventure-style experience. The transfer of fan tokens is immutably recorded on the CENNZnet blockchain, allowing all parties can establish the legitimacy of the token.
By using the CENNZnet blockchain, AusGP has obtained a deeper insight into its followers. Through the giving of tokens, for instance, they could determine which fans were champions of the sport, as well as the next layer of supporters (the receiver of the token through gifting), so enabling AusGP to expand the pool of directly involved fans in the future.
The AusGP Access initiative made a significant contribution to the Australian Grand Prix’s sustainability program by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each token pack towards carbon offsetting.
